Did I miss 17 months update? Oops. Sorry, my second child.
Two days ago, you turned one and a half! Such a big boy. Running everywhere, climbing on everything, tearing everything apart. You are all boy! Auntie Amy describes it well, "It's like boys turned off the switch that says, "that might not be a great idea". You go full speed into life and head first whenever you run. And run you do! I don't know if you know how to walk... only run.
Your speech has developed more lately. I love when you say "airplane". Anytime you hear one, you say "airplane" and look up. Once you spot it, you wave ("hi!").
Speaking of waving... you love to wave. We went to a concert in the park yesterday and you walked up the aisle (away from the stage, so facing everyone watching the show) and were like Miss. America! You were waving to everyone on your way to the back. Just a smile, wave and "hi" then you'd keep going. Of course, it made everyone smile as they waved back. A little later, you climbed on a park bench next to a lady eating french fries (there was hardly enough space for you to fit, but you worked your way up there and she scooted over). You sat right next to her with your arm on hers then tried to reach for fries, haha. She was laughing too hard and I was quick to grab you. My little moocher.
I have not pushed potty training on you at all. I think I tried to get you to sit on the little potty once or twice months ago and you hated it... wouldn't even sit. But this month, you have pointed to the potty more and I sat you on there once. It was the big potty (with the little seat). You always sign "poop" "potty" when you see anyone going to the bathroom and sometimes when you're just next to the toilet.

16 months
Momma missed the actual day. It wasn't until 3 days later that I thought, "Wait... my O is 16 months old!"... after telling someone that you were 15 months old.
You are "talking" so much. Of course you say "momma", "dadda", "dog". Then there are a whole slew of other words that only a mother can understand (you also do the sign for the word)... all done, more, please, thank you, bath, milk, gentle, ummm... maybe there are more that I can't remember. You have really adopted signs and are learning them so fast. I should start having you watch Signing Time like Kira did.
You are still pretty laid back, but also into everything. In the stroller, you'll just sit and watch all around. But if you are out... you are OUT! You run and check everything. You climb and let nothing stand in your way.
People love you. You flirt! You will stare at people, touch them when you walk by, smile then be shy. You are such a handsome boy, and I think you know it. We're all in trouble when you get bigger! You also love to FaceTime with Ukki and Mummi and Auntie Amy. You smile and "talk" and wave. Sometimes you like seeing yourself, but mostly you like seeing your family and talking with them.
You still love your bed and are a dream to put down. You just lay down and put yourself to sleep like an awesome kid. In the morning, you often just lay there with your eyes open for a while before saying, "mom!". And now you are starting to sleep in a little more. You are up between 6:30-7:30 (isn't it sad that I consider that sleeping in now).
I'm just crazy about you... in case you couldn't tell. Bouncing you on the ball while you cling to me is still one of my favorite things. You are my cuddle-bug!
Keep growing strong and healthy, my little man. Momma prays for you constantly and is so proud that you are mine.

15 months already
My Owen,
I'm sorry... I missed month #14. Guess that's life as a second child. But good news, I finally got pictures on my computer again so I can upload some cute ones from this past month.
Starting month 15... you are still amazing (naturally). You love to bounce on the yoga ball with me. That might be one of your favorite things. You will sit and cling to me. Sometimes you make a "ooo...Ooo... OOO" noise when I bounce you. Other times you just bounce quietly. When I stop, you start laughing and bouncing yourself until I start again. You would sit for an hour doing that if I let you... and I love feeling your little arms wrapped tightly around me and your head resting on my chest. You are my love!!
The other thing that you absolutely love, is to lay down on pillows. It's the cutest thing I have ever seen. You constantly walk around holding either your or Kira's pillow and periodically lay down on the floor with your head on the pillow. Just a little snuggle, then you get back up and keep running around. If there is a couch pillow on the floor, you will swing by and lay on it for a minute. If there is bunched up clothes on the floor that resemble a pillow, you will also rest your head on those for a bit. You are just a cuddle bug!
Your talking has exploded this past month. Of course you say "momma" or "MOM" and "dadda". You will also say "dog" (as you are obsessed with dogs... and tend to call any animal a dog). But now you are babbling a lot. Just full on conversations of nonsense sounds... moving your little tongue around to form make believe words. I love to hear you communicate. You have a few signs too: please, thank you, all done, more, milk and dog.... that are usually done while you yell the word (or a word sounding like what the sign is: "AHL DOON"). My heart is so full!
I love you more than words can say. I pray for you every night and through out the day. Your safety, your health but also for your heart. I pray that you will be a man of God... strong, wise, loving. You are amazing, my Owen!

13 months of sunshine
My Owen
You are my sunshine! I love you so much. I just want to squeeze you... all... the... time. The greatest feeling is when I see you after being away for a while (like at work) and you come running to me and hug me. It only lasts a few seconds before you're running off again, but I LOVE IT. When I pick you up at school, I like to peek in on you while you're playing. Then I'll say your name. As soon as you hear it, you perk up and look around until you see me. Then you get a huge smile and run to me. Oh... my heart is melting just writing about it.
You are so active. Just non-stop exploring. You, like Kira are not afraid to venture out on your own. When we go to the park, you go off and I have to chase you around to keep you in my sites. What am I going to do when you are older and faster? I can't chase both you and Kira. Part of me is jealous when I see these kids who are really mild and never venture far from their mothers... but then I remind myself that even though it's hard now, I would much rather have you guys be individuals who explore and learn and are brave. You do things like wanting to go up and down the stairs while walking. Or jump off of ledges. I know you're learning but I am really on my toes. You will still let me hold your hand or help you, so that's good. I'm also so grateful that at a very young age, daddy taught you how to climb off of the bed/couch/ledge with your feet first while facing the seat. That has been a big help.
You also started throwing temper tantrums when you don't get what you want. Probably 9 times out of 10 it's because I take something away from you. You scream, arch your back and throw your arms up. It is still in the cute stage :-) You get over it quickly... but it must be frustrating not being able to say or express what you want/need/feel. There have also been times when you will try to hit me. Maybe you do it with others, but I've only really seen it with me. You pull your little arm back and try to whack me while making a little angry yell. I also think this is quite adorable... but I try not to let you see me smile about it. I keep telling you "no". You will say "no" back to me when you do something you're not supposed to. You'll go to a cabinet that you're not allowed to open, stand at the door and look at me while smiling and say "no". You bite too. Not hard or when you are angry, just playing. So you'll start to bite me and I say "gentle" and you'll look at me and say "gentle"... or "ehn" which mean "gentle" in Owenese. You also say "thank you" which is SO cute. It's more like "hn u" but with the tone of "thank you". I know what you're saying :-)
My little man... watching you grow is giving me so much joy. You are amazing... nothing else to say about that... just amazing in every possible way. I am so incredibly blessed.

1 year old!!
My sweet Owen,
1 year ago you came screaming into this world. I pulled you out myself when you were ready and pulled you up to my chest. I held you close to my heart and have kept you there all year.
I can't believe how big you have become. You are walking all over the place. Running and trying to keep up with your sister. You are independent and love discovering everything around you. I think that you are safely out of the stranger anxiety stage and onto the "let's find out everything that's going on" stage.
You love balls. You will be a sports star, for sure. At first you always threw balls. Starting at about 9 months, you would play catch. It was really amazing. Now, you've expanded your interests to kicking balls too. Between you and your sister, I think we will be a really sporty family. The way you throw is really exceptional too. I'm not just saying that because I'm your mom... you're really good. Tom Brady 2.0? Except you'll play for the 49ers... I'll cheer for you wherever you are (although I really don't want you to play football).
You are a decent sleeper, but you still like to wake up early. Like your Ukki. I love laying you down to go to sleep. You roll over and cover your face with your lovie. It's very sweet and so peaceful. Or watching you with your butt up in the air. And when you sleep at school (at least when I looked in on you), you are completely wrapped up... makes me claustrophobic, but you love it.
I love watching you grow and start to play with Kira. Maybe it's the influence of being at school with other kids, but you interact much more than most kids at this age. I'm impressed when I see you and how confident you are walking around with the big kids. Playing with them or not, you hold your own.
You are so incredibly handsome. I am constantly stopped by people telling me how cute you are. You aren't as outgoing as Kira, but you do like people. Kira always wanted to (and still does) interact with people. She would smile, wave, talk to them. You, on the other hand, watch people. You want to observe and see exactly what they do. Maybe you will be my scientist.
You are special, Owen. I'm not just saying that because I'm your mom... you are truly unique. God has big plans in store for you and I'm so excited to see what they are. I'm thankful that I get to have such an intimate role in your life. I pray I live up to all I can be as your mom.

Another sleepy Kira story
Last night Kira and I had a cup of tea before bed. I tried to get her to pee but she just wasn't ready. So I told her that she would go to bed, then I would wake her up before I go to bed, take her to go pee and then put her back to bed. She agreed and went to bed.
When I was ready for bed, I went into her room and found her perched on the side of her bed... fast asleep. She was semi-standing as her knees weren't touching the ground, but she was out. Of course, I called in Duke and he snapped a few photos with the flash on. When I looked at the photo, I noticed a mark on the carpet. Sure enough it was pee.
So this is the only theory I can think of: Kira kinda woke up and had to pee. She got up and took about 2 steps away from the bed before her pee came out. Realizing that she already peed, she turned to go back to bed but was so tired she collapsed while standing next to her bed and fell completely asleep.
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!
I laid her down on the floor, took off her pajamas (which I actually could wring urine out of in the bathroom) and cleaned her off with a baby wipe. She was so out of it that she kept trying to curl up on her side and go back to sleep while she was naked on the floor. I got her pajamas back on quickly and got her back into bed. She slept soundly the rest of the night.
In the morning, Duke said, "What happened with peeing on the carpet, Kira?" To which she stared at him blankly and said, "What?"

Kira's sleep
Kira comes into our room the other night around 1am in a whiny, crying state. I pull her up into bed and ask what's wrong.
Me: Are you sick? What's the matter?
Kira: No... it's my hand
Me (trying to look at her hand that she's holding with the other one): What is it? Where does it hurt?
Kira: It feels like pokes all over
Duke: Kira, your hand is asleep!
So after rubbing her hand and getting blood flow back, she went back to bed.
